Our 2017 Adopt a Gig scheme helps support the free gigs at the festival and you can adopt one of our gigs for £50.

Double-bassist, improviser and composer, Dave Kane, has a clear vision of the higher path a serious musician must take: “You’re a searcher. You’re seeking something through creating music, by being a composer or an improviser. It’s a search for something and that search is the same as a spiritual practice: what is that thing, whatever it is you get a glimpse of, that other space where it’s very blissful? It’s there in all of us.”

An exceptional group of up-and-coming jazz musicians from Leeds, West Yorkshire have been awarded the opportunity to perform at a number of high profile jazz festivals across The North through the Jazz North Introduces scheme.

Wandering Monster, led by double bassist Sam Quintana, is the latest beneficiary of this pioneering mentorship and support scheme.

A jazz legend will be returning to Marsden this October to perform at the 25th Marsden Jazz Festival.

Digby Fairweather appeared at our first festival in 1992 and will once again be at the 19th century Mechanics Hall in the centre of the village this year, performing alongside BBC Radio 2’s Paul Jones for their “Rocking in Rhythm” show – their only appearance together in 2016.

We’ve moved to a new home inside the 19th century Mechanics Hall in the centre of Marsden.

The Mechanics is our main headline venue during the festival weekend so we’re delighted we’ve been able to get an office inside the building ahead of it transferring to community ownership in the autumn.

Our rent will also help contribute to the future of Marsden Library, where our new office is based, and we’ll be joining local theatre company Mikron, who are existing tenants in the Mechanics and run our box office for us.
