Description

Although we couldn’t put on the usual live festival in 2020, we still wanted to find a way to continue to create high-quality musical performances, and so we commissioned a number of UK-based jazz talents to perform up on the expansive Marsden Moor, in a project we called Chronotope. In five episodes, we visited iconic locations around Marsden and through the sunshine, wind and rain, we recorded artists such as Matthew Bourne, Daniel Casimir and Ruby Wood among others, performing exceptional pieces.

At our festival this year, within the Marsden Mechanics main hall, we’ll have an immersive sound and visual installation to experience our Chronotope project in a new and extraordinary way… The University of Huddersfield has kindly lent us their ‘Huddersfield Immersive Sound System’ (HISS) for this exhibition. The HISS is a large dome-like rig of screens and speakers which will create a 360° surround sound experience. We wanted to use the latest technology to try and transport you up on t’moors to relive the performances as though you were really there.

The exhibition will be located at Marsden Mechanics Hall:
Saturday 9 October – 10.30am-9pm
Sunday 10 October – 10.30am-6pm
