Having first collaborated as part of the Ronnie Scott’s Lockdown Sessions earlier in the year, Shri and Dennis Rollins reunite for this spellbinding live performance for our festival. Shri Sriram is a BASCA British Composer Award 2016 winning composer, musician and producer, initially trained on tablas before developing a unique style of playing his self-made fretless bass. Jazz giant, funky trombonist and long-time MJF performer, Dennis Rollins MBE joins Shri for this special show. Rollins is well-known on the British and international jazz scene and is celebrated for his versatile and muscular approach to the trombone. The performance is both playful and deeply soulful, featuring Shri and Dennis, playing a selection of pieces from Shri’s latest album – The Letter, Just A Vibration, Black Sabbath and more.

Yaatri blend complex composition and ethereal soundscapes to captivate the heart as well as the mind. Influenced by the emotive quality of the Scandinavian jazz tradition, the momentum of the rhythms of India and the energy of rock and roll, their music has a strong sense of purpose and journey. Assembled by guitarist and composer Liam DeTar, Yaatri consists of B-âhwe on vocals, Felix Bertulis-Webb on keyboard, Jona Tromp on drums and Joe Wilkes on bass.
