Description

Kansas Smitty’s House Band

Kansas Smitty’s House Band sets out to reinvent how audiences experience jazz. Theirs is a joyful, spontaneous jazz rooted in swing and blues that keeps the shows fresh and the crowds faithful.

Described by Jamie Cullum as ‘one of the hottest live acts on the UK jazz scene’, the band started as resident musicians of London’s hippest jazz bar, Kansas Smitty’s and grew their fame through residencies at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, twice-sold-out headliners at London’s iconic Ronnie Scott’s, and the acclaimed release Broadway 2018. They were nominated for a Jazz FM Award and won a British Jazz Award in 2018.

‘They dance to the beat of their own drum. Totally unpredictable!’ – Cerys Matthews, BBC Radio 6 Music.

Kansas Smitty’s House Party

The Kansas Smitty’s Wrecking Crew – the rhythm section of the Kansas Smitty’s House Band led by saxophonist Giacomo Smith – are here. Expect the late-night party atmosphere that has become synonymous with their shows; this group of self-professed ‘jazz addicted twenty-somethings’ are one of the best live acts around.

Moving through swing, blues, R&B, New Orleans jazz and gospel, they have developed a sound of their own, steeped in heritage and crossing generations. Kansas Smitty’s DJS will be spinning R&B, Soul and rare groove classics until the early hours to keep the party moving.
