Description
Dinosaur’s album Together, As One has been nominated for The Hyundai Mercury Prize 2017.
Since her first appearance at Marsden Jazz Festival in 2013, Laura Jurd’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. In 2015 she received the Parliamentary Jazz Award for ‘Instrumentalist of the Year’ and is a BBC New Generation Artist for 2015-2017.
In 2016 her long-term quartet, now named Dinosaur, released their debut album Together, As One on Edition Records to extraordinary critical acclaim. They have toured the world, recently playing at Ottawa Jazz Festival in Canada and the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, USA.
‘Imagine the impressionistic electric-jazz moodiness and glistening keyboard textures of Miles Davis’s In A Silent Way seamlessly wrapped around Celtic folk melodies, Django Batesian idiom-swaps, and interwoven with American, Scottish and north African drumming – and you might have a feel for this superb set from Laura Jurd’.
