Your feedback helps set the scene for the festival's return this October!
08 April 2021
Thank you so much for taking the time to fill in our audience survey at the end of last year!
We had a broad spectrum of responses, and your feedback is helping us to look holistically at the festival and to continue to grow as a more diverse and inclusive festival for all. You told us that you value how much the festival raises the profile of Marsden and the Colne Valley, inspires young musicians, and provides new opportunities to access culture in our community.
You also said that, although digital content will never replace live music, it does offer ways into the music for new and established audiences, as well as capturing a flavour of the festival, so we will continue with some of our digital content, such as our Marsden Jazz Podcast.
But the big news is: we are doing everything we can to bring live music back to Marsden this October! We have some way to go yet, with a lot of money to raise, but please get your pencils out and mark 8-10 October 2021 in your diaries.
As well, we’re delighted (and relieved) to announce that we have secured support from the DCMS Cultural Recovery Fund! The Cultural Recovery Fund grant supports us from now until the end of June to scale the festival team back up and make detailed plans to return with a transformed live festival this October. We heard loud and clear that you will feel safest outdoors, so our plans for events at Marsden Jazz Festival 2021 reflect this.
Now we need to raise money to produce and put on the festival itself. We are seeking further support from Arts Council England and will also tell you about ways in which you can support the festival in the coming weeks. We still have a big hill to climb and we want to take you with us on the journey. After all, the festival would be nothing without you, our audience and supporters. Marsden Jazz Festival is #hereforculture
Thank you once again for your patience, your support, and your enthusiasm. We will be back in touch with information about this year’s festival as soon as we can!
