Description

Following workshops with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO), Kirklees top young jazz orchestra Musica Youth Jazz kicks the show off before NYJO takes to the stage.

NYJO’s show ‘What is Hip’ is guaranteed to get you grooving, while showcasing their fantastic virtuosity, reworking classics from the forties to the noughties and paying homage to the legacy of a music designed for dancing.

23-strong big band NYJO showcases the UK’s finest young professional jazz musicians, with a hard-swinging rhythm section and a raft of hugely talented soloists. Performing around 40 concerts nationally and internationally each year, NYJO has helped launch the careers of Guy Barker, Amy Winehouse, Mark Nightingale and Laura Jurd.
