Description
Orphy Robinson, former Jazz Warriors member and Blue Note artist, has helped turn the tide of jazz in the UK from continual reproduction of standards to contemporary compositions distinctly UK and World Music in nature. He is a prolific composer and educator and performs across genres, with artists such as Robert Plant, Nigel Kennedy and Andy Shephard.
In September 2016 Orphy Robinson assembled a band to pay homage to vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson shortly after his passing. Voted “Live Experience Of The Year” at the 2017 Jazz FM Awards, a septet from the same gifted players will play Bobby’s compositions, arranged by Orphy Robinson.
With Orphy Robinson (vibraphone), Byron Wallen (trumpet), Tony Kofi (saxophone), Rowland Sutherland (flute), Robert Mitchell (piano), Dudley Phillips (bass) and Mark Mondesir (drums).
