Benefit Concert for Marsden Cuckoo’s Nest
A global collective of nine native and migrant musicians remix roots music and tell modern-day stories with a glance back to the past.
Rafiki Jazz celebrates unity and diversity and will perform music from their new album Saraba Sufiyana (Mystic Utopia). Kora and tabla dance with berimbau and bansuri, oud and steelpan in a rich masala of mesmerising music that crosses continents, languages and cultures, to a world of migration stories, enchanted voices, deep memories & rootsy folk histories.
Marsden Cuckoo’s Nest has granted over £750,000 to local organisations (including Marsden Jazz Festival) since 2001. They are raising £60,000 for a deposit to buy their community charity shop building and continue their work for many years to come.
