Festival History

The first Marsden Jazz Festival took place in 1992 to show off the newly renovated 19th century Mechanics Hall, recognise the Colne Valley’s musical heritage and support local businesses in the village.

Our first festival featured acclaimed British jazz cornettist Digby Fairweather, saxophonist and jazz club owner Ronnie Scott, and guitarist Martin Taylor.

Cutting edge and traditional jazz has been coming to Marsden during the second weekend in October ever since, and we now put on well over 100 hours of live music at 26 venues each year.
